My first thought is to say how sorry I am to hear of the sad situation you find yourself in. Dementia is a terrible illness, which along with Alzheimer’s, nowadays affects many people. Up till now, there has been no cure found for the disease, which as we are aware, progressively gets worse, eventually leading to physical death.
The early studies of the disease were accredited to the German psychiatrist and neuropathologist Aloysius ‘Alois’ Alzheimer. He was born on the 14th June 1864, passing into light on 19th December 1915. Alzheimer is recognized with identifying the first published case of ‘presenile dementia’, which was later identified as Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer’s is most often diagnosed in people over the age of 65, although less prevalent, the onset of Alzheimer’s, can occur much earlier. It is predicted that Alzheimer’s will affect 1 in 85 people globally by the year 2050. Once the disease advances, symptoms can include irritability, confusion and aggression with polar mood-swings, difficulty with trouble with language, and the advent of long-term memory loss. Steadily, all bodily functions are lost; when the sufferer starts to decline, they frequently step away from their family and society.
Now, let’s look back at your question. Obviously, I am not a medical practitioner, nor medically trained, therefore my answer falls within the realms of ‘spiritual knowledge and comprehension’. First, perhaps, one should look at the ‘physical span of life’, for all of us. We are innately spirit, by our very being. We have three parts: the ‘Physical Body’, the ‘Spiritual or often referred to as the Etheric Body’, and the ‘Soul’, the ‘Great Light’ or ‘Jewel of Eternity’. The Soul is creation of all life, divine by purpose and nature. However a person’s perception of divinity lies within their own comprehension and understanding. Whilst we are within the sphere of earth, we live inside its laws and restrictions. Our physical life span may be a solitary moment, or over 100 years. Consequently, may I suggest you look at the most important aspect of all, the ‘Soul’? The eternal light (the Soul) is perfection, and sustains life as we know it. Because of this, it is perfect, it is only the ‘Physical Body’ that is imperfect. Of course, when we enter into eternity, we are seeking perfection, in its wider concept, that takes a little longer. Attainment only happens, through many changes, whilst upon our journey to the state of perfection. As such the answer to your poignant question is rather simple. Yes, the link of inter-communication exists, perhaps not immediately; please try to remember, all things from our perspective take time and patience.
When we all take the final short step into eternity, to be greeted by a thousand outstretched hands, for some people it needs a period of adjustment. We know there isn’t time as we understand it. Nevertheless, there does exist a method of time, if not we wouldn’t realise whether we have progressed or not. The point of logic always fits with spirituality. So, on the point of ‘logic’, it is conceivable your Mom, in some way, will make contact with you, through a thought, a message, a sign, a dream, because where there is a will - there will always be a way...
Wishing you peace and blessings
