Mexico: It's easy to be very happy in Ensenada - Two more examples: El Correcaminos and Las Bugambilias
Date: 19 November 2010

Yesterday, I discovered two more wonderful restaurants here.

El Correcaminos is located just East of San Fernando on La Ruta Del Vino, about 8 miles East of El Sauzal/Ensenada. I had heard about one of their specialties: Apple pie! I stopped there for the first time yesterday and had an APPLE PIE! A huge, heavenly plate. Can't wait to go back.

The main dining room has two large tree trunks in the middle of it, going through the roof and opening outdoors into a large canopy over the roof. In the picture just below, two of the trees in the green canopy on the left are those two.

When the two dining rooms of the restaurant are full at
breakfast time, people wait in the back yard where there
are two pool tables and a playground for the children:

The second restaurant that I discovered yesterday is located at the Cortez Hotel, corner of Lopez Mateos and Castillo (just before the bridge). It's called Las Bugambilias. They have on Sunday one of the most beautiful breakfast buffets I have seen! Just below, the desert part of the breakfast buffet:

more than 20 years ago from Lisbon. And stayed!

My favorite table, on the sidewalk patio:

And because yesterday was the day the Baja 1000 off-road vehicles were
leaving Ensenada for La Paz, 1,000 miles South (close to Cabo San Lucas),
we could see them lining up beside the sidewalk patio of the restaurant:
