Absolutely delicious California Sunday drive, mid January, northbound on Hwy 1 from Oxnard and then up the mountain on the narrow, steep and winding Nacimiento-Fergusson Road (Road 22S01), all the way to Fort Hunter Liggett. Breathtaking views all the way, of course.

The always-inspiring contours of the friendship between Highway 1 and the Pacific Ocean:

Mirror, mirror on the road... Hwy 1 is the fairest of them all...

This Google Map shows how winding the road is on its first half from Highway 1.
The map gives a good idea of the elevation of the road also:

Have a look at how far down the Ocean is....
Take a few seconds to feel the power of that place...

Dramatic close up on the mountain with the Pacific Ocean in the background:

And we keep climbing...

View of the surrounding hills:

The road keeps winding and the vegetation keeps changing
at every turn depending on the exposure to the sun...

Notice the complete change in vegetation from the previous picture. Oops, tunnel ahead...

A place where to stop near the top and enjoy the view of the surrounding peaks:

Going down: Sunbathed view of the green valley:

Pretty on all sides....
