The Last Heart Attack

I just watched the wonderful report of CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta called The Last Heart Attack, in my opinion the most useful televised one hour that ever appeared on TV. Prominent in the report is President Bill Clinton, who became vegan after reading Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's book Prevent and Reverse Heat Disease, The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure.

I do not see doctors, and I am not a book reader any more. I read 2 books in the last 2 years, as I make it a point NOT to read book, using my time instead to meditate and to develop my own ideas (instead of the ideas of others). But this book seems to resume half of my experience with health of the last 10 years: We are what we eat! In the report, heart illnesses are called "food-borne illnesses". At last!!! Somebody is saying it publicly!

Basically, the writer says that our society can get rid of heart attacks, like some societies of central Africa, simply by not eating meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products and oils. "Nothing that has a mother or a face", says President Clinton on the report.

The vegan diet even reverses heart diseases. Why? "Because it keeps the lining of the blood vessels free of plaque."

My heartfelt congratulations to Dr Esselstyn, Dr Gupta and President Clinton for this report.
